Auto Off Topic
Auto Off Topic is a weekly podcast where we talk cars, adventures with cars or anything that might be related to cars. We’ll even have the occasional guest. We’ll share the highs and lows of old car/project car ownership. We’ll tell cautionary tales about rusty bolts, blown head gaskets, snapped timing belts, spun bearings, janky wiring and how we fixed them. When not wrenching, we enjoy back road driving and our local Cars and Coffee. The hosts Brad DeSantis and Andrew Pascarella are two car enthusiasts who have been best friends for over 30 years. Auto Off Topic is based in Peabody Ma and Phoenix Az. Our closing song is part of ”Z/28” is graciously provided by the band Z/28. In this episode, we have local amateur rally driver Vinnie McMahon stop by and answer some questions about how he got into rallying. Vinnie drove a 1990 Eagle Talon that he turned into a rally from just outside of Boston 8hrs into Canada. Completed 100 stages miles of competition and drove the car back with hardly and issue. We are struggling with the winter doldrums here. We cover some Mitsubishi news, how odd all the Nissan SUVs are and what Nissan should do to improve Mitsubishi. We get real excited about the Baby Driver trailer and the teaser shots from Subaru's bobsled track stunt. Andrew ordered up some more parts for the Talon, while his Craiglist post for the '89 Montero keeps getting flagged for removal. Brad drove back and forth to Georgia again to pick up another trailer for a customer and we talk about fake concept cars. We enjoyed watching the Daytona 500 and touch on a few of our favorite things about it. Andrew and Brad changed the belts on the quirky but nice '79 Accord before it heads off to a new owner. Then we cover a few scale project car updates. Finally, was it Imperialism or the invention of the car that decided what side of the road we drive on? We discuss righthand and lefthand traffic in the back half of the episode.

Brad and Andrew ate some naked chicken chalupas, they did not disappoint. However, the damn Junkyard Raider did. As a special treat you can hear the truck fire up right here on this podcast. We promise it will be the only podcast ever to feature audio of a Dodge Raider being started. Then we talk some Tamiya R/C and go over a few scale project cars. Andrew got his Montero wheels overnighted from Japan, well not really, but they still came pretty quickly.

Brad and Andrew both have head colds this week so excuse our voices and coughs. Our friend Jeremy of HotRodCoffeeShop.com stopped by the AOT bunker for a little chat. We learned about Jeremy's six-fo and how it helped him learn to weld and fabricate. Don't worry folks, we find a way to bring it back to Mitsubishis.
